Our social media cover star: Erica at Rewind Interiors

Rewind Interiors focuses on the ideas of rewinding, repurposing and reloving – transforming overlooked objects into beautiful new items.

Update: Rewind Interiors has now closed its Market Hall stall, but the online store remains live.

One of the lovely things about Durham Market Hall is that it combines long-established businesses with a steady flow of new arrivals, meaning that every visit offers a different experience – and plenty of scope for interesting Indie Durham City cover stars!

We were delighted to recently hear from Erica of Rewind Interiors, who opened a permanent base in the Market Hall in September last year, after previously trading online.

Erica is a lady of many talents, having previously been an art teacher before launching her own business. As you’d imagine, that creative flair – especially “for turning old into renewed” – runs through everything that you can find in Erica’s attractive and welcoming shop.

Basically, Rewind Interiors focuses on the ideas of rewinding, repurposing and reloving, so that objects and materials that might have been overlooked get transformed into beautiful new items. Erica always has a range of distinctive and eye-catching one-off lamps – made from items as diverse as cameras, telephones and hairdryers – and has grown her collection to include gorgeous wooden accessories such as chopping boards and coasters.

A talented artist, Erica also stocks quality colour prints of her own paintings – featuring animals, landscapes and more – many of which adorn the walls of the shop.

As ever with a business like Rewind Interiors, the best way to enjoy its creations is to visit in person, but you can also shop online with free UK delivery on orders over £50.

As well as having the website, Erica is active across social media on Facebook and Instagram, where you can keep up to date with the latest new stock. Thanks to the Indie Durham City project, funded by City of Durham Parish Council, we were able to share some ideas with Erica, free of charge, on how to get even more from Rewind Interiors’ digital presence.

Remember, via the Indie Durham City project, any independent business in the parish area can request free marketing and mentoring support from North East-based retail experts CannyInsights.com. Our website has all the details about what support is available, and there’s a simple form to complete if you’d like to register your interest.

We’ll be featuring more cover stars throughout 2022, so if you sign up there’s every chance that you too could spend some time at the top of our Twitter and Facebook pages!
