Who we are
Our website address is: https://www.indiedurhamcity.co.uk, and the site is managed by CannyInsights.com.
This page is used to inform website visitors about our policies for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, should you decide to use the Indie Durham City website.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
If you contact us via the website, we will only use the information that you submit for the purposes of managing your enquiry and/or relationship with us.
The information that you supply will not be used for any additional marketing purposes.
The actual submission data is stored in the database of this site, and is emailed directly to us (i.e. the site author who published the page on which the contact form resides) as the owner of the form. This email will include the submitter’s IP address, timestamp, name and email address, alongside details of any options that have been checked, or information entered into the free-text boxes.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”).
We use the Jetpack WordPress Stats module by Automattic to record traffic visiting this website. Data used by this tool includes:
- IP address
- WordPress.com user ID (if logged in)
- WordPress.com username (if logged in)
- User agent
- Visiting URL
- Referring URL
- Timestamp of event
- Browser language
- Country code.
As site owner, we do not have access to any of this information via this feature. For example, we can see that a specific post has 285 views, but not which specific users or accounts viewed that post. Stats logs – containing visitor IP addresses and WordPress.com usernames (if available) – are retained by Automattic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature.
Activity tracked includes: post and page views; video plays (if videos are hosted by WordPress.com); outbound link clicks; referring URLs and search engine terms; and country.
Where official sharing buttons are active on the site, each button loads content directly from its service in order to display the button as well as information and tools for the sharing party.
As a result, each service can in turn collect information about the sharing party, such as the sharing party’s IP address as well as the page URL.
Links to other sites
Our website contains links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Data collected via this site by CannyInsights.com may be shared with the City of Durham Parish Council, which funds the Indie Durham City project, purely for the purposes of undertaking evaluation of the project, or contacting you with regard to further business support.
You can view the City of Durham Parish Council’s own privacy statement here.
By default, WordPress – the platform used to build this site – does not share any personal data with anyone.
How long we retain your data
Data submitted via the website contact forms will be retained for as long as it is required for project purposes, and deleted once the project is over.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.
