Our social media cover stars: Liza and Matty at Discovering Durham

Discovering Durham is a vibrant hub in the centre of the city where you can find high-quality, locally sourced products in one place.

For our next cover stars, we’re heading to Prince Bishops shopping centre and the lovely Discovering Durham shop.

Run by Matty and LIza with the support of their team of local suppliers, Discovering Durham is a vibrant hub in the centre of the city where you can find all your favourite high-quality, locally sourced products in one place.

By showcasing food, drink and gifts made within a roughly 20-mile radius of the shop, Discovering Durham is a fantastic outlet on the high street for distinctive North East producers, giving people a reason to visit Durham city centre by offering an experience that you can’t get anywhere else.

You can even place your order online via the website, so that your desired items are ready to collect when you arrive at the shop at the end of the next day.

Some of the featured food and drink brands include cheese from Parlour Made, chilli sauce by Screaming Chimp, tea from The Tea Enthusiasts, bread delivered daily by Claypath Delicatessen, and even wines by Gateshead-based Laneberg.

Currently open on Thursdays and Fridays (10:00 – 17:30), Saturdays (10:00 – 18:00) and Sundays (11:00 – 17:00), Discovering Durham has been set up as a community interest company or CIC – a type of social enterprise – which means that profits are reinvested in promoting and supporting the businesses that help our local economy thrive.

Be sure to stay up to date by following Discovering Durham’s posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

In the coming months, we’ll keep showcasing some of the local businesses that we work with as our “cover stars” on Facebook and Twitter.

To feature, make sure you’ve applied to get involved in the Indie Durham City project!
